About Kate Pepper
While it's true that Kate has always enjoyed taking pictures, it would be disingenuous to say that she was born with a passion for photography. Kate dreamt of glory in a variety of career paths, from swimming with penguins at the aquarium to chasing storms down the dusty back roads of the Midwest. Obviously, neither of those two things transpired...but Kate documented those passions with photos. She often stole her mother's cameras, or purchased disposable cameras, and snapped away. Of course, these pictures were terrible, but it was a start...
It wasn't until she was forced to take a semester of college at her local school and wound up in an Intro to Photography course, that she completely and utterly fell in love. Her favorite photos to capture are the moments where her subjects forget that she is there, in moments of pure joy or tender sweetness. After she finished her course at Cecil College, she took every photography course that University of Maryland had to offer. By 2007, she was a photographer for College Magazine, an ever-burgeoning magazine for and by college students, and with Linton Photography, where she began to shoot weddings. Weddings are truly her favorite to capture, as you are exposed to the full spectrum of portrait photography’s offerings: couples, families, and children, as well as charming details and sceneries.
Kate primarily shoots weddings for High Contrast Photography as a second and occasionally leading weddings whenever necessary. She still shoots for Linton Photography on occasion, and will make herself available to other area photographers in need of assistance. The Lintons and Sarah Koermer, the owner of High Contrast Photography, have been putting up with Kate’s shenanigans for over a decade at this point, and she is truly grateful for their friendship and willingness to keep her side hustle going.
When she is not working with Sarah, Kate enjoys shooting portraits for families, couples, and pets. Other projects are always welcome.
Kate has been with her high school sweetheart since 2002, married since 2011, and is the mother of two beautiful little girls.
